--CF Carlos Beltran expects to join the Mets on Tuesday, for the opener of a three-game series against the Marlins. Beltran last played in a major-league game on June 21. BY THE NUMBERS: 12 -- Losses by LHP Pat Misch's team in his first 12 career major-league starts. Misch snapped that skid last Thursday with a win at Colorado. The Giants and Mets combining to go 0-12 in Misch's first 12 starts had matched the major-league record, according to the Elias Sports Bureau. The Mariners also were winless in John Cummings' first 12 major-league starts, from 1993-94.
QUOTE TO NOTE: "I thought I looked bad with the glasses." -- Braves C Brian McCann, in a text message to Mets 3B David Wright. Wright wore an oversized Rawlings helmet last Tuesday in Colorado after returning from a concussion, which drew ribbing from teammates and opponents. He ditched the helmet after one start because it was too big and bulky.
