--LF Fernando Tatis isn't resigned to missing the postseason if the Mets participate. While Tatis is expected to require offseason surgery to repair a Grade III separation of his right shoulder that he suffered Tuesday, he hopes to be cleared to resume baseball activities in two to three weeks with the hope of making the postseason roster as soon as the NL Championship Series. --CF Carlos Beltran homered from both sides of the plate Wednesday. The switch hitter accomplished the feat for the third time as a Met and the sixth time in his major league career.
--2B Damion Easley's strained right quadriceps muscle isn't improving, and interim manager Jerry Manuel believes he may not be able to contribute over the final 11 games of the regular season. Easley, who felt a pop in Game 1 of Saturday's doubleheader against the Braves, is still experiencing pain while walking.
--RHP Aaron Heilman, who has appeared in just three games this month, allowed a double to Wil Nieves and single to Aaron Boone to open the eighth inning Wednesday and was pulled without recording an out. Heilman has been nursing left knee tendinitis and doesn't figure to be used in meaningful situations the remainder of the season.
--RHP Brandon Knight picked up his first big-league win at age 32, pitching five innings of two-run ball against Washington. He had pitched 11 games in 2001-02 for the Yankees, and Wednesday's outing was his fourth for the Mets this season.
BY THE NUMBERS: 100 -- RBI plateau reached by David Wright, Carlos Delgado and Carlos Beltran. It marked the third time the Mets have three 100-RBI players.
