--LHP Billy Wagner, who underwent "Tommy John" surgery on Wednesday, already has received informal word from the organization that his $8 million team option for 2010 won't be picked up. Wagner will turn 39 during that season. Because Wagner wants to be a closer when he returns and figures the Mets will have found another option by then, Wagner believes he's thrown his final pitch as a Met.
--C Brian Schneider was scratched from the starting lineup for Friday's Mets-Braves game -- which was eventually rained out anyway -- with inflammation on his left kneecap. The team officially labeled the trouble bursitis. Schneider plans to take anti-inflammatory medication and hoped he wouldn't miss more than one day. --C Ramon Castro was activated from the disabled list. He missed two weeks with a right quadriceps strain.
--2B Damion Easley appears to have become an everyday player. Easley was scheduled to be in the starting lineup at second base for a fifth straight game Friday. With a doubleheader Saturday, Luis Castillo may start one game.
--RHP Aaron Heilman has been used just twice this month as he deals with tendinitis in his left knee. Interim manager Jerry Manuel said Heilman is available for relief appearances, although Manuel would be concerned about using Heilman for multiple innings because that generally causes the knee to "bark."
BY THE NUMBERS: 100 -- RBI plateau reached by David Wright, Carlos Delgado and Carlos Beltran. It marked the third time the Mets have three 100-RBI players.
