Wagner was eligible to be activated from the disabled list Monday, but that wasn't possible after he complained of soreness in the elbow after throwing a bullpen session Saturday in Pittsburgh.

Wagner said he anticipates pitching again this season, but he couldn't put a timetable on anything.

"It's going to take some time for the inflammation to get out of the elbow," Wagner said. "After that, we'll see how it progresses."

There is a fear the increased inflammation could be masking other damage.

METS 7, BRAVES 3: Oliver Perez walked five in 6 1/3 innings, but a measure of his improvement is that he kept the damage to three runs.

Manager Jerry Manuel said the turning point of the game came in the seventh when the newest Met, Luis Ayala, replaced Perez with one out and runners on the corners and got Omar Infante on a popup and Brian McCann on a flyout.

The Mets scored five in the eighth, keyed by Carlos Delgado's two-run double.
