And David Wright, who had been criticized for a lack of clutch hits despite a team-high 109 RBIs, appeared to have a breakout game Wednesday with four hits and four runs.

Wright had worked with hitting coach Howard Johnson and interim manager Jerry Manuel on Tuesday afternoon before the series opener against the Nationals to get his timing back.

"I was getting my foot down late," Wright said. "My timing was late."
