"Are you asking about injuries? No injuries," Martinez said. "Have they announced anybody else? We have so many (other pitchers thanks to September call-ups) that they would have announced it by now."
Martinez was excused from the final three games of the road trip this week so he could work out at Shea with personal trainer Chris Correnti, in part because Martinez experienced general stiffness in his start last weekend in Miami.
No more Maine?
The Mets appeared to all but rule out John Maine's return this season from a bone spur in his right shoulder.
Maine has been on the DL since Aug. 24 with the condition, which will require surgery soon or in the offseason to repair.
"He's done absolutely nothing baseball-wise, so he's probably still a ways away," Manuel said when asked about Maine yesterday.
Backup catcher Ramon Castro, sidelined since Aug. 27 with a strained right quadriceps worked out pain-free Friday and is scheduled to come off the DL on Sept. 11, the first day he is eligible.
